Overview
We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented coordinator who believes in our mission of helping families after a loved one dies. As our Onboarding Coordinator, you'll be the bridge between new customers signing up for Afterword and the team that gets them live on the platform. Your work will shape the first impression every funeral home has of Afterword and set the tone for our entire relationship with them. You'll collaborate directly with our onboarding team and customers across the country to help funeral directors get the most out of our software from day one.
Location: Remote Canada or US, with occasional travel to conferences
Responsibilities
- Guide funeral directors through onboarding onto Afterword. You'll be the point person for every new customer from kickoff to go-live, setting expectations, answering questions, and making a process that can feel overwhelming feel manageable. Funeral directors are busy running their businesses and serving families, and your job is to gently keep things moving without adding pressure.
- Own the status of every account in onboarding. At any moment, you should know exactly where each home is in the process, who we're waiting on, what the next step is, and when we last spoke to them. Nothing slips through the cracks on your watch.
- Be the connective tissue between customers and our internal onboarding team. You'll keep information flowing in both directions so our implementers always know what they need to know and our customers always feel taken care of.
- Build and refine the onboarding process itself. As you run more onboardings, you'll see what works and what doesn't. We'll lean on you to help us figure out how this should run as we scale. When a process doesn't exist, you'll build one. When one exists but isn't working, you'll fix it.
- Wear multiple hats. You might jump on a call to walk a funeral director through a feature, draft a follow-up email, update an internal tracker, or represent Afterword at a conference, sometimes all in the same day.
Requirements
- A couple of years of work experience under your belt. Enough that you know how to manage your time, run a meeting, and write a clear email without someone looking over your shoulder.
- Incredible organization and attention to detail. You're the kind of person other people notice is organized. You know where every thread stands. Things don't slip.
- Excellent written and verbal communication. Warm, clear, no fluff. You can write an email that a funeral director actually wants to read.
- A love of process. You enjoy figuring out how things should work, and you get genuine satisfaction from making something messy run smoothly.
- Confidence guiding people. You'll be leading funeral directors, many of whom are older and more experienced than you in their own field, through something new. You need to do that with warmth and authority at the same time. Funeral directors know funerals. You'll know Afterword.
- A care for doing right by customers, especially customers in an industry that's been underserved by software for a long time.
- Comfort being close to death and grieving families. (If you've made it this far, we think you've met this one already. But in case it wasn't clear, you'll be talking about death every day.)
